Southern Efficiency

According to JFK, Washington, D.C. is a place of “Southern efficiency and Northern charm.” And while he was using it to describe the politics of the Capital, we rather liked the idea of Southern efficiency--lazy Sunday afternoons with Bourbon in hand, Country Captain on the stove while listening to Bluegrass. Turns out that Washington, D.C. has many identities but has always held on to a little bit of the South.


Events include: Whiskey classes, whiskey tastings, and cocktail receptions

Capacity: 26 seated / 35 standing


Classes and tastings outside business hours are available during the daytime on Saturdays.

Southern Efficiency is available for 3-hour full bar buyouts for up to 35 guests.

Sunday - Wednesday food and beverage minimum: $2,000.00

Thursdays food and beverage minimum: $2,500.00

Friday and Saturday food and beverage minimum: $3,500

1. What are the menu options?

Our specialty is southern fare. The events menu will be determined by the host in conjunction with our team and finalized within at least one week of the event.

2. Do you charge a rental fee?

We do not charge a rental fee. We do, however, have a food and beverage minimum requirement, as listed above.

4. Can you accommodate allergies and dietary restrictions?

We can accommodate most allergies and dietary restrictions. Please communicate any restrictions with the event planner before your event. 

6. Do you charge gratuity automatically?

10% tax and 20% gratuity on food and beverage will be automatically added to the final check.

7. Can I customize the food and beverage menu?

Of course! Our team will assist you in choosing the food and beverage for your event.

8. Can I bring a cake?

We are happy to dress up our own desserts with candles for a celebration. If you bring your own cake, we charge a $2/ per person plating fee.

9. How far in advanced do I need to book my event?

Spaces are first come, first serve. We ask for a minimum of one week advance notice for all private events. 

10. What if my group is larger than the maximum capacity?

We do offer the option for groups larger than our maximum capacity to arrange a combined buyout with our sister bar, Eat The Rich. In this case, the event would take place throughout both adjoining spaces. Please inquire for further information.
